You moved into a place with an existing home security system
Sometimes when people purchase a home, a home security system is already established. All the devices work, are placed in the correct areas, and are ready to go. In this case, you might discover that you have to call and establish a new service contract. A Vivint installer will still come to your home to ensure there are no usability issues, and they could offer ideas on upgrades. It's a preliminary trip, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without worrying about any new alarms and cameras -- unless you make additions.
The outgoing homeowners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up fee to make the transfer easier. If the previous owners are downsizing to an apartment complex or retirement community, turning over the home security service might be an addendum of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your old devices with you
You may want to bring along your old Vivint system with you to a new home when you move. It should be pretty easy to transfer, as most alarms and smart devices are plug and play. You can uninstall each device yourself or use a Vivint installer to come and take down your devices. Then our installers will put in the same features -- and any additions you want to make -- in your new house. Your home security contract will stay the same.
